Heraki Akuarela Red Wine - Cal Karasi Denizli 2025 14% TURKEY X 6 X 750ml
A must try for those who enjoy Pinot Noir, Gamay, Nebbiolo or other lighter-styled reds with depth!
An elegant wine produced from 100% Çal Karası, one of Turkey’s indigenous grapes, grown at circa 890 metres above sea level in Denizli’s high-altitude vineyards. From 37-year-old dry-farmed bush vines, fermented with 20% whole bunches and matured 6 months in oval tanks. No oak here. An extremely pure expression of the grape and its unique Anatolian terroir, likely to raise an eyebrow or two.
Light to medium-bodied, beautifully aromatic, with bright notes of wild strawberry, ripe cherry and raspberry, lifted by delicate floral and rose-petal aromas. Fresh acidity and fine, gentle tannins give the wine energy and structure, while subtle savoury and mineral notes add complexity to a long, refreshing finish. Its light colour belies the depth of flavour and character within.
Award-winning, poured at a very select few London fine dining, this is a wonderfully versatile red, best served slightly chilled at around 14–16°C.
Pair with grilled lamb, Turkish köfte, roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled vegetables, aubergine dishes, meze and lightly spiced Middle Eastern cuisine. Its freshness also makes it an excellent partner for richer fish such as grilled salmon or tuna.
A beautiful pour, and a far cry from Turkish wine stereotypes!
